What is boba?
Boba–also known as bubble tea–is a sweet, customizable drink that originated in Taiwan.
It’s made with a base of tea (usually black or green), milk or non-dairy creamer, flavoring, and sweetened chewy tapioca pearls that sit at the bottom of the cup. The drink is served with an oversized straw, so you can sip up the pearls along with the tea.
And perhaps you’ve heard of popping boba. This variation is small, colorful, gel-like balls that are filled with fruit-flavored liquid. Instead of being chewy like regular boba, they burst in your mouth and release the fruity flavor.
