Share your Akron!
Do you live, work and/or play in Akron? Does your love for the city bubble over and spill into everything you do? If so, sign up to take over the @EverydayAkron Instagram account for a week.
We are looking for brand new hosts to broaden our perspectives of Akron. If you have hosted Everyday Akron before, please do not sign up. If you have previously hosted and are looking for ways to share your side of Akron, please reach out for other methods.
Takeovers last a full week: Sunday through Saturday. You’ll be able to share where you’re going and what you’re doing. But don’t fret! You don’t have to do anything special or go out of your way. All Akronites have a unique way of interacting with and exploring the city – we want to see your side of Akron!
Pick your week to host on our Calendly site! (You may have to advance the months forward to find an open, available week. You will select a Sunday to indicate the week you’d like to host.)
[As of June 2026, we released the rest of the weeks for 2026. Availability further out will be announced at a later date on Instagram and in our newsletter.]
Guidelines
- You should really like the city of Akron to want to post from the @EverydayAkron Instagram account. We prefer you live, work and/or play in Akron in order to host. However, we have made exceptions in the past for those who can create a week of content.
- Don’t be a Debbie Downer. Please don’t whine or complain or be offensive to anyone or anything. Positivity is powerful. If you’d like to open a discussion about something, please do! Aim to keep it productive and forward thinking.
- You’re encouraged to post at least once a day. Feel free to use the Instagram Stories feature as well.
- You’re encouraged to share where you work and what you do, but please do not be overly promotional and spammy. (If you have a promotional idea, please contact me to see if it’s okay.)
- Please do not use generative AI to create images, captions and other content. We want your real, authentic side of Akron. And you don’t need to do anything special or out of the ordinary to share that.
- We also encourage everyone to share their own photos and videos, along with original captions. If you share someone else’s content, please get approval from them first and be sure to credit them by tagging them in the post and caption. (Do not make this your entire content though. Again, we want your original experience through your lens and words.)
- Do not feel pressured to share your children’s faces and personal info. Please respect their privacy.
- If you are hosting as an organization (business, nonprofit, etc.), please consider hosting through the perspective of one person. The Everyday Akron audience prefers to hear from a person and their experiences. (Please reach out if you have questions or want to run through the concept.)
- Please note that people may send posts and other information via direct message, asking “you” to share the content. Everyday Akron hosts are NOT obligated to share this content. I try to catch those as they come in and give those people other options to spread the word via Everyday Akron, but if you’d like, direct them to our contact information in the @everydayakron Instagram bio.
- Some of your posts may automatically be shared to the Everyday Akron Facebook page. You are not obligated to keep an eye on that during your takeover. If you would like to use your personal Facebook account to respond to comments and questions on your related posts, feel free.
- Any content that you share (such as words and/or photos and videos) may also be shared on the Everyday Akron website, social accounts (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook), and anything that may be added in the future.
I appreciate you abiding by these guidelines. Akron is a great place to live, work and play. Help us spread the word. If you don’t follow the guidelines, we will take back the opportunity to share your experiences.
