Akron’s got plenty of spots to turn an average date night into something you’ll never forget. In the 5 years we’ve lived in Akron, my husband and I have tried countless date night spots in and around Akron. We tend to frequent those with local beer and spirits, food, of course, and an activity or theme whenever possible.

With that I present Brittany Bailey’s unofficial top 3 date night spots in Akron!

Green Dragon Inn

Green Dragon Inn is part bar and restaurant, part board game paradise. It’s perfect for couples who love a little friendly competition. We love to grab a themed cocktail and try a new board game. They have over 750 games to choose from, with varying levels of difficulty for everyone. Classic board games, deep cut strategy adventures, word games like Taboo, card games like Uno and games you’ve never heard of await you at Green Dragon Inn. 

This place is all about playful vibes and I can’t get enough of the ever-changing themed cocktails.

Quarter Up

I guess we really like games because my second date night pick is a bar-cade (bar/arcade). Quarter Up is packed with old-school favorites like Pac-Man, Mortal Kombat, pinball machines, Nintendo 64, and more.

We challenge each other for high scores at our favorite 8-bit classics and always make sure to grab a local beer, a hush puppy corndog, and sweet potato tater tots (my favorite) between rounds.

Northside Speakeasy

For a more intimate, mysterious vibe, Northside Speakeasy is a solid go-to. No games, just vibes and craft cocktails. This cozy bar is all about dark lighting, handcrafted cocktails and conversation.

If you and your date love a well-made Old Fashioned or want to try something new, this place has a creative drink menu and a moody, tucked-away feel.

How do you get in? In true speakeasy fashion, that’s something you’ll have to find out on your own once you give them a visit.
