Mayor Daniel Horrigan is taking over this week! I asked why he wanted to takeover the Twitter account, and he said, “This would be a fun way to connect with other people who love Akron and to share some of the behind-the-scenes of what goes on in our City to keep it running smoothly.”
About Mayor Horrigan and his love for Akron, in his own words:
“One of the most amazing things about Akron is its people. We are a very welcoming community; because we love Akron so much, we make it our goal to make everyone else love it too. We’re so hospitable because we want everyone who comes here to see what we see… and then stay!
Being mayor is about delivering service, and I love this job. I really do. I’m really busy. There are a lot of 30,000-feet decisions, and there are a lot of 1-foot decisions — from weighty immigration issues to downtown planning. That’s what makes me tired at the end of the day, but for me there’s gratification in that.”
As for Mayor Horrigan’s favorite thing about the city? He says it’s “the way the sun sets in my backyard every day, all year long.”
