Akronite of the Week

Meet Toni Craig

Your host for the week of March 3, 2019

Toni Craig, host of Summit Peeks the week of March 3

Meet Toni, in her own words:

“I came to Akron for college in 2001 and never looked back. Coming from a small town along the Ohio River, Akron offered so much more right in my own backyard, so to speak. And there are new things to experience and places to explore every year.

“I met my husband at UA, and we fell in love going to concerts at the Civic, staying out ‘til last call at the Matinee, and brunching every Sunday at Akron Family. Fast forward 15 years, and we live in the Portage Lakes with 2 kids and a Boxer, and we own 2 East of Chicago Pizza franchises in the city.

“I love to bring my kids to campus and cheer on the Zips. We celebrate big and small occasions at Bricco, Crave and Nuevo regularly. I could spend all day at Northside Market. On Friday nights, we head to our old ‘hood of Highland Square to grab a Zubs sandwich and a flick.

“We hike the Metro Parks on the weekend, drink a beer at Thirsty Dog after a long Friday night at work, and start our slow Mondays with a large coffee from Nervous Dog. There is so much to do in this city—and I know we’ve only scratched the surface!!

“Additionally, I’m a lover of thrifting and antiquing, so I’m always checking out new places to find old, hidden treasures—and this city has tons of great spots. I’m excited to share some of what I do, where I go and what I love about Akron.”
