I’m 100% not trying to scare you when I tell you Mother’s Day is literally just around the corner. Sunday—it’s Sunday people.
And while that may sound scary, it doesn’t have to be (at least gift-wise) because there are many cute local shops scattered around Akron that are guaranteed to have something that will be the perfect fit for your Mom or the lovely person in your life that brought Big Mom Energy. Let me give you a little peek at my recommendations for this year from my shop, The Gardener of Bath.
Jewelry
Ok so your Mom and the rest of humanity has been shut away for the last 15 months. I bet she is ready to go out and look cute! Get her something to get her prepped for that! Whether she is a Mom that will get misty-eyed for a dainty little something or great statement earrings, we have something to fit just about everyone’s style and budget.
My top picks for the season? Chocolate and Steel for the mushy moms, Tai for the trendsetter mom and Kendra Scott for the moms who love a brand name.
Puzzles
If quarantine taught me anything, it’s that cocktails and puzzles actually make for a really fun night. My favs are Rifle travel puzzle for newbies and Cavelletti Stone Puzzle for the practiced puzzler.
Table Topics
Your Mom wants to talk to you. And if she is anything like my Mom it’s generally about the same 2-3 things I don’t want to talk about. Derail that train-going-to-no-where convo with these little lovelies! Table Topics are 130 conversation starting question cards that come packaged and ready to take anywhere.
Learn stuff about your Mom that you never did before—like what is her favorite photo of you? Or what was her favorite toy growing up? You just might be surprised to learn some things about a person you have known for a few decades. My Mother’s Day recommendations would be the Family or Original cubes.

If your Mom is anything like mine she has a collection of cookbooks. The cookbooks we have in stock are fool-proof because I won’t stock them until I test them—I tested this Dessert Person cookbook very well.

Does your Momma love her garden? Then she will love these! These adorable ceramic mushrooms are a staple item at our shop. We love how they provide color to your outdoor space without any labor needed. No worrying about watering or frost here. And, of course, they add quite a bit of whimsy.
Rifle Paper Co.
We love everything Rifle Paper Company does. From their incredibly well balanced candle scents, Kitchen linens, hair accessories, and of course adorable floral paper goods, this brand nails it for quality gifts without a scary price tag.
Kitsch Spa
Want to give mom a little feeling of luxury? Kitsch Spa Items are where it’s at. For the winter holidays, we could not keep these items in stock they were such a big hit. You know some thing is going to be a great gift when people try it out themselves and come back for several others to get for their friends. That is just what happened with these face rollers and towel scrunchies.
The great news is they have expanded the line just in time for Mother’s Day! You can see these and all the other spa items in our shop while supplies last.
Bonus Points: A Mother’s Day Card
As much as your Mom is gonna love any gift you give her, she is going to be pretty dang jazzed if you take the time to write her something mushy/funny/sweet in a card.
