Meet Byron:
I was born and raised on the west side of Cleveland. My dad, Byron, was a carpenter, and my mom, Richelle, worked doing data entry or something. I’m not actually sure, her work wasn’t actually clear to me as a child. I was what they call a “Latch Key Kid”, which is a level of independence I carry with me still to this day.
I moved in with my Aunt and Uncle when I was 14 and switched from Cleveland Public Schools to Westlake High School, a culture shock that will never leave me and something I think about quite often in terms of social and economic justice. A conversation for another day, perhaps. I had my son, Aiden, when I was 16 and grew up mighty quick after that. I graduated from Westlake in 2008.
I moved to Akron that Summer, to go to The University of Akron to persue Computer Engineering.
Enter, Kirsten. I met my wife a year or two prior to us dating when we both worked at Staples during college. We got married in 2015 and have two beautiful girls: Evelyn (4), and Lillian (1.5), along with my son Aiden (now 15).
I work as an Engineering Manager at BrandingBrand, and my wife owns and operates Creative Eye Designs, a creative agency. We’re both incredibly passionate about our community and give back to it often, financially when we can but more often with our time as we navigate being young professionals. We both enjoy gardening, music, being outside with our family, and doing DIY projects around our house.
I hope to show you everything from the mundane, the fun, to the utterly exciting parts of Akron that I look forward to every day throughout this week!
