Meet Katie:
Hi, I’m Katie Mertz and I’ve lived and worked in Akron since I was an undergrad student at UA FOURTEEN YEARS AGO (somehow). I didn’t plan to stay here, but after we graduated with our MFAs, my husband and I found a great little house in Goodyear Heights and that was that. He works for the City of Akron and I’ve worked all over the city doing different things—in college I worked in the Financial Aid office, I was one of the book sticker people at the ASCPL, I was on the team at the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, worked alongside the amazing team at Sweet Mary’s Bakery; slung espresso and baked pastries for Akron Coffee Roasters; and now I run Jamtooth Baking Co out of our home. I like Akron because there’s always something to keep me interested. And my people are here!
