Meet Katie:
Katie Beck is a creative community builder, director, writer, and teaching artist who works to build platforms that highlight, center, and prioritize historically excluded voices. She is Co-Artistic Director of Gum-Dip Theatre, Oracle of Synthesis for the Center for Applied Theatre and Active Culture, Drama Director at Theodore Roosevelt High School, and facilitator for Heart to Heart Leadership. Born and raised in Akron, Katie graduated from St. Vincent – St. Mary High School with the dream of moving away. After receiving her BA in Theatre, Writing, and Community Justice Studies from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, she moved back to Akron in 2014 to pursue her passion of community-based theatre. In the last 11 years, she has fallen in love with the city as an adult witnessing the renaissance of art and culture that has reinvigorated neighborhoods. Katie is a proud homeowner in North Hill near Waters Park.
