Meet Diana:
Hi! I’m Diana, my pronouns are she/her, and I am a senior neuroscience and psychology major with a minor in pre-law at Kent State University. Though I’ve lived in Kent for most of my life, I went to middle school and high school out in Akron. I went to St. Paul’s near Coventry for middle school and St. Vincent-St. Mary’s for high school around the Highland Square area.
Whenever I drive past Akron or think of Akron, I think of nostalgia. Akron is where I found my love for coffee, art, jazz, community organization, civic engagement, and my love for life and its little moments. The city is a big reason for who I am today as a young, ambitious woman. I remember sipping coffee with my best friend at Angel Falls Coffee, eating a Rocky Balboa at Mr. Zubs, finding my favorite record at Square Records, driving down the Y-Bridge with the windows down at 2 in the morning, volunteering at the food bank, watching a French film at The Nightlight, and running around the art museum.
The city is one of the reasons why I see a future in community organization and why I see myself running for local politics. I love the people of Akron, and I want to be someone who could help lead and listen to the concerns of a growing community. I made a spontaneous shift from medicine to law with an interest in public policy my last year of college, and I thought of Akron in my emerging adulthood decision.
