Meet Bronlynn:
Hey everyone! I’m Bronlynn Thurman. If I had to sum up who I am in as little words as possible, I’d say, Akronite, creative, wanderer, and community connector. I was born and raised in this city and besides a brief stint on the east coast, I’ve spent most of my life within the Greater Akron area.
Currently, I live and work Downtown, a neighborhood that is just beginning to see more residential activity. I’m involved in a lot of things around the city, but most people may know me from my work as a program officer with GAR Foundation, my past creative work on my blog and TDS, or more recently as co-founder of Black Women Explore. My bestie, Rachel, needed someone to fill in for this week, so I raised my hand because it’s been a while since I’ve shared my view of Akron.
We currently have a lot going on that is a symptom of deeply rooted systemic problems tied to the history of this country and I’m not one to gloss over that. I won’t be a complete “Debbie downer”, but I will have some honest conversations peppered in. Looking forward to this! I hope you are too.
