Ken Evans, the Everyday Akron host for the week of Dec. 25, 2022

Meet Ken:

Hello, I am Ken.

I was born and raised in rural Carroll County (the one below Stark) and attended college at The University of Toledo. After college, I was looking to stay close to home – though not too close – and moved to Akron in 2014 to live with some close friends.

After a brief stint in the beer & wine industry, I decided to switch gears to pursue my interests in community development and public service (what I actually went to school for).

I became an AmeriCorps VISTA at the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation in 2018, where I worked on food insecurity and community engagement issues. Returning to the VISTA program, I spent another two years at The Well CDC in Akron’s Middlebury neighborhood, working to develop Akron’s first publicly accessible Tool Library.

During this time, I became an active contributor to the former Devil Strip Magazine and was accepted into the 2021 class of Torchbearers.

In February of 2022, I started at Leadership Akron as a Program Facilitator developing programming that endeavors to help local leaders better understand the challenges and opportunities the Akron region faces.

Outside Leadership Akron, I enjoy writing, local history, nature/conservation, retro gaming, comics, archeology, and cats.

Also, spending time with my fiancé, Abby Darin! Probably going to be in trouble for leaving that one out. 🤦🏻
