Everyday Akron Postcard Club Takeover
Join Akron Postcard Club and Everyday Akron on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 6pm to 7:30pm at the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology for an Everyday Akron Postcard Club Takeover event!
This event is free and open to the public.
How did the Akron Postcard Club get started?
Akron Postcard Club was founded in July 2021 by Cris Shell, a two-time graduate of the University of Akron, and Dr. Jennifer Bazar, Assistant Director of the Cummings Center for History of Psychology. They are both passionate about postcard history and want to share the David P. Campbell Postcard Collection with the community.

When does the Akron Postcard Club meet?
Akron Postcard Club meets on the last Wednesday of the month from 6pm to 7pm, except for the months of November and December. A special Saturday meet-up is scheduled during these months, the Postcard Write-a-Thon benefitting local area residents. Meetings are typically held at the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology, but there are occasional offsite meetings, so be sure to check their website for meeting information.

What are Akron Postcard Club meetings like?
All Akron Postcard Club meetings are free and open to the public, and each month’s meeting is different. Past meetings have included postcard writing for the annual National Postcard Week, learning about and making certain types of postcards, postcard show and tell, and more!

Some memorable meetings for Dr. Bazar have included Naddia Dhalai offering a Q&A session about the USPS; Sam Hurst talking about the Olive Mudge album; Cassidy Kuhar “playing” the musical postcards on her cello; and Jennifer Davis’ embroidery postcards and photo-multigraph postcards.
