Recently, my partner and I tied the knot! Weโve been together for seven years, we got engaged in New Orleans in 2022, and we had the most beautiful wedding day in early November 2024.

Sam and I were engaged for a long time because we knew we wanted to save up money, and we had significant life events happen. For example, we bought a house around the same time we got engaged! I would recommend not making your life as stressful as we made ours. ๐
Of course, being engaged for two years allowed us the chance to really look over all of our options and procrastinate on decision making. Even though I think I am a pretty good event planner, wedding planning was so hard. I donโt love being the center of attention and neither does Sam, but it all worked out! We had some amazing vendors and supporters on our special day โ it was so perfect.
So, to help out any engaged couples in the Akron area, I thought I would share some resources that we used, along with our experiences!
First and foremost, we used The Knot to host our Wedding Website, get RSVPs from guests, and set up our registry. Basically, I would look at any vendor in Northeast Ohio or local to Akron and save them to reach out to later!
We eventually picked all of our vendors based on connections or word-of-mouth recommendations. But something else that was really helpful in the beginning was going to the Todayโs Bride Wedding Show at John S. Knight Center to find out what really spoke to us, and what we did or did not need (based on budget).
This map shows A LOT of wedding vendors – but I am sure I missed some. If there’s one you think we should add, please reach out!
Note on the map: If you don’t see any pins, click the flyout menu icon in the top left corner, and select the categories you want. Then, the locations will show up.
My Wedding Vendor Standouts
Here are some vendors that we used for our wedding and recommend highly!
Wedding Photographer
Oh Hey LA โ L.A. is a childhood friend of Samโs and an overall badass. They’re also the brains behind Juice Box in Cleveland. L.A. met with us multiple times leading up to our wedding, got our photography vibes immediately, and worked with our other vendors to make the day run smoothly. I cannot get enough of my wedding pictures, and I am so grateful for L.A. capturing the day literally perfectly.
Wedding DJ & Music
The Energy Producer โ If you need a DJ who understands you, wants you to have the best wedding day ever, and knows how to keep that dance floor HYPE, call Jaime. We met several times before the wedding, and Jaime even helped us with some planning questions and general knowledge we didnโt know about wedding days. Each session with Jaime helped us get to know her more and vice versa.
We ended up getting compliments about our DJ from friends and family at the wedding, saying that she was โtoo goodโ and that they couldnโt stop dancing! One thing I will always remember is how Jaime saw how excited our wedding party was about nostalgic emo/pop-punk tunes and kept those vibes going. She is able to make quick decisions that truly made our day memorable.

Wedding Venue & Catering
House Three Thirty โ We had so much help from the folks at House Three Thirty. Vaughn, A.J., and everyone else on the event planning team were the kindest people, always answering our questions and making sure we were satisfied. Again, we met several times with these folks (to do a dinner tasting with the chef โ which was fantastic โ to plan out our decorations that they would put up for us, and to even bring our families in for a tour months in advance).

Their website is a little hard to navigate, but starting with an email and meeting Vaughn in person will get you on the right path. Finally, we got so many people from our wedding saying they loved the food from both cocktail hour and dinner.
