After more than a decade of showing new films, cult classics, family-friendly flicks and other movies, The Nightlight has a new look and a second screen.

The Nightlight is located in the Historic Arts District of Downtown Akron at 30 N. High St. They offer an arthouse cinema experience that caters to, well, everyone. With films ranging from indie movies to documentaries, there’s bound to be a can’t-miss feature for you. Plus, they often host events at the theater and around town — previous locations include House Three-Thirty, Akron Art Museum, and Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens.
Now that the theater boasts two screens, there are double the comfy seats, double the film showings, and double the fun. It’s obvious how passionate they are about movies. No details were skipped.
The theater has a full service bar that offers themed cocktails for every movie. They also serve local concessions, like Norka sodas and beers from HiHO Brewing. There are organic and gluten free snack options, and of course, popcorn. But what I bet you’re not expecting is a plethora of popcorn seasonings. Shake on some dill pickle seasoning, nutritional yeast or even cotton candy flavoring.
Jenn’s favorite spot at The Nightlight is the Mitten Media Library. The space is named after Akron-born Mark Mitten, an Academy Award-nominated documentary producer. Gather in this cozy spot before or after a movie and flip through the film reference books. (Nightlight members can actually check them out for free!)
The Nightlight is fully ADA accessible. Both theaters have multiple wheelchair spots. They offer closed caption readers, open caption showings, and assisted listening devices. The bar even has an accessible bar top area to rest your drinks as you chat.
