How and when did the non-profit get started?
Carve Your Own Path, Inc. (CYOP) was established in 2018 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit after my own experiences as a clinical social worker in high-stress, high-volume systems revealed a critical gap in our local mental health landscape. I saw firsthand how systemic barriers, long waitlists, cookie-cutter treatments, and practitioner burnout were leaving community members without timely or compassionate care.
CYOP was created to build a sustainable, community-rooted alternative where mental health support is human-centered, inclusive, and grounded in long-term wellness rather than quick fixes.

What are the mission and vision of the non-profit?
Carve Your Own Path offers an evidence-based, trauma-informed, and inclusive approach to mental health and well-being. Through holistic wellness services, education, and consultation, we support individuals and communities on their journey to healing and growth.
We envision a world where individuals seek wellness services without fear of judgment, and communities are empowered to thrive together.
What is your focus in now? Who do you help and why?
Right now, our focus is on expanding low-barrier mental health care while offering integrative wellness programming that bridges the gap between clinical therapy and community support.

We serve individuals, emerging adults, families, and helping professionals in the Greater Summit County and surrounding communities who are navigating life transitions, trauma, stress, or systemic barriers to traditional care.
We do this work because true health requires addressing the whole person, and no one should be priced out of or turned away from compassionate, identity-affirming support.
Where is the non-profit headed? What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
We are continuously expanding our reach and deepen our community roots, including transitioning our primary clinical space to Fairlawn to better serve surrounding neighbors. Looking ahead, we aim to grow our student intern program to offer even more no-fee and low-fee clinical slots, broaden our corporate and community wellness workshops, and build a permanent endowment that ensures long-term financial sustainability for our sliding fee scale.

How can people get involved?
Community members can get involved in several meaningful ways:
Attend a Workshop: Participating in our community wellness events such as sound baths, expressive art workshops, or restorative yoga directly funds our private sliding fee scale for neighbors in need.
Donate or Sponsor: Individual gifts and corporate sponsorships directly cover the cost of therapy for uninsured or underinsured community members.
Join our Board of Directors: We are always seeking passionate, community-minded professionals, advocates, and leaders who share our vision for mental health equity to join our governing Board of Directors and help shape CYOP’s strategic direction and growth.
Spread the Word & Connect: Share our low-barrier therapy services and professional training opportunities with friends, local businesses, and community networks.
Support Our Events: Join us for our annual Carving the Future Fundraiser to celebrate and sustain local mental health equity.
