Thomas Skala has lived in multiple cities in three different time zones. However, Akron is the first place he has lived in which he feels he’s part of a community.
“When people from out of town visit me, they’re shocked that I often bump into people I know around town,” Thomas says. He doesn’t have a car, so he gets around Akron by foot or bike. And since he doesn’t have a TV, he’s out in the city doing something nearly every night.
One of Thomas’ favorite things about Akron is that there is something going on somewhere every day. “There are a surprising amount of tiny concert venues in basements and old shops.”
